June 27, 1935 ~ May 1, 2023 (age 87)
Glenn Holton Collings of Brigham City passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023, at the age of 87 from a long battle with Parkinson’s disease and COPD. He was born on June 27, 1935, in Brigham City, Utah, the son of Thomas W. Collings and Hortense Holton Collings.
He lived in Magna, Utah, until the 5th grade. The family then moved to Brigham City where he attended 6th grade at Central School and then graduated from Box Elder High School in 1953.
He joined the Army after high school and when he came home on leave, he married his high school sweetheart, Raone Rader, in the Logan LDS Temple. Then he went to Germany. After 3 months, Raone joined him for the rest of his tour of duty.
After the Army, he attended Weber College and worked at H.A.F.B. where he received 5 Outstanding and 2 Sustained Superior Performance awards. After working for 34 years at H.A.F.B., he retired as a Production Controller Supervisor.
He was an active member in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Some of his hobbies have been woodworking, archery, hunting, and golf. He enjoyed golfing with his friends, Dee Hardy, Pete Young, Darwin Young, Max Robinette, and his brother Lynn.
He is survived by his wife: Raone; two sons: Robert Kurt and Jerry (Kristi) Collings; 11 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren; sisters: Dorothy (Boyd) Newman and Ruth (Dale) Robinette; brother: Lynn (Louise) Collings; son-in-law and daughter-in-law: Richard & Julie Bott; and son-in-law: Marc Larsen.
He was preceded in death by two daughters: Debbie (Marc) Larsen and Judy (Richard) Bott; his parents; brothers: Erin, Dan, Lester, Fred, Bill, Perry, and Richard; sister: Arlene Hunsaker; and 10 sisters-in-law.
The family would like to thank those at Community Nursing Services (Cathy, Karl, Jason, Jessica, and Dan) for their support while Glenn was on hospice.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East, Brigham City, Utah.
Viewings will be held the night before on Thursday, May 4, 2023, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and prior to the service from 12:00 – 12:45 p.m. also at Myers Mortuary.
Interment will follow in the Brigham City Cemetery.
