LOGAN — The Light the World Giving Machines are coming to Cache Valley next Monday evening, December 16th.

On KVNU’s For the People program on Wednesday, committee member Craig Dunkley said there will be over 100 locations in all.

“There’s 106 different locations where they put giving machines and we’re fortunate enough in Logan to have three machines coming this coming Monday. That activity will start Monday at 6 p.m.,” Dunkley explained.

The location is the parking lot just east of Great Harvest Bread Company at 55 W. Center Street in downtown Logan.

The machines will open with entertainment by Sadie Mortensen, Christina Edlund and Robert Linton.

After Monday, the machines will be operational by 9a.m. every day until January 1st. Dunkley was asked how this vending machine-type of approach started.

“The Light the World Initiative from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints started back in 2017, so this is the eighth year. And part of that initiative was the giving machines, they’re kind of an umbrella under that Light the World Initiative.

“So, over the years, since 2017, there have been $32 million raised, over 2 million people have participated in donating through these giving machines.”

In addition to global giving, you can donate to local charities through the machines, including the Cache Employment and Training Center (CETC), Neighborhood Non-Profit and Housing Group, the English Language Center (ELC), Cache Valley Hope for Cancer, Common Ground Outdoor Adventures, iDE Global and Save the Children.

He said the giving machines are in 13 different countries and, for the first time this year, can be found in Africa and Asia.

Some of the other Utah locations for the machines include City Creek in Salt Lake City, near the amphitheater in Ogden, the University Mall in Orem and the Red Cliffs Mall in St. George.
