LOGAN – The U.S. Air Force Band is coming to Logan for one performance on Tuesday, March 25.

“Our community relations tours are a highlight of the year for us,” according to Master Sergeant Bradley Robinson, a member of the military chorus. “We want to bring music to as many folks as possible!”

Known as the Air Force Concert Band ensemble and the Singing Sergeants chorus, their 13-day tour of Utah, Nevada and California will include a 7 p.m. performance at the Newel and Jean Daines Concert Hall on the campus of Utah State University.

“This is a rare and exciting event,” promises Technical Sergeant James Layfield, the principal trombonist with the Concert Band.

“In addition to great patriotic songs, we will perform music from Wicked and The Wizard of Oz as well as a salute to celebrate our veterans,” Layfield adds.

The United States Air Force Concert Band is the largest ensemble of the Air Force Band.

This symphonic wind ensemble presents over 100 concerts annually and performs a wide variety of repertoire from light classics, popular favorites and instrumental features to classical music and original works composed for the band.

The Concert Band performs regularly for the general public in the area of Washington, D.C. and on biannual community tours throughout the United States.

The Singing Sergeants is the official chorus of the United States Air Force. Originally formed in 1945 from members of the Air Force Concert Band, the chorus is now composed entirely of professional vocalists who have been selected by auditions.

The Singing Sergeants have appeared before every chief executive of the United States since President Harry S. Truman. The chorus tours the nation twice yearly with the Concert Band.

“Our current tour honors the service of Airmen both past and present with a showcase of musical talents,” Robinson explains.

Robinson says that all concerts by the band and choir are free and open to the public, but tickets are necessary to reserve seats. To obtain tickets for these shows, pleas go online to: https://www.music.af.mil/USAFBand/Events/National-Tours/Concert-Band/
