PRESTON, ID – The Central Committee of the Franklin County Republican Party will observe Lincoln Day on Saturday, Feb. 28 with a candidate night and dinner.

That event will begin with a meet and greet for candidates slated for 6:30 p.m. at the new Franklin County Event Center, followed by the annual Lincoln Dinner at 7 p.m.

“All Idaho executive level candidates, along with candidates for the state House and Senate offices for District 28, are expected to be attendance,” according to Todd Thomas, the chair of the Franklin County GOP.

The Lincoln Day Dinner is intended to honor Abraham Lincoln, one of the founders of the Republican Party and its first elected president.  Held in February, the event is traditionally a fundraiser for GOP affiliated organizations at county level.

“As this is our primary fundraiser,” Thomas adds, “we are asking for generous donations at the door for the dinner.”

Thomas explains that all attendees of 21 years of age or older will receive a “chance to win” ticket for two firearms that have been graciously donated for the Lincoln Day event.

The first of those is a Kimber Micro 9-mm pistol, which has been jointly donated by Sen. Jim Guthrie (R-McCammon) and state Representatives Rick Cheatum (R-Pocatello) and Dan Garner (R-Clifton).

A .223 caliber semi-automatic rifle with a 30-round capacity has also been made available for auction, along with other items for silent bids.

Extra chances to win the aforementioned firearms can be purchased at the event for $20 per chance.

Thomas urges all local Republicans to join in the evening of camaraderie and food to support the Franklin County GOP.

The new Franklin County Event Center is located at 251 North, 250 West in Preston, ID.
