PRESTON – The Central Committee of the Republic Party of Franklin County is inviting all residents to attend two upcoming “Meet the Candidate” Nights here.

The first of those gathering is slated for Thursday, April 25 at the Robinson Building in Preston, featuring the District 28 Republican candidates for the Idaho House and Senate.

On hand for that event will be incumbent lawmakers Sen. Jim Guthrie (R-ID) and representatives Rick Cheatum (R-Seat A) and Dan Garner (R-Seat B). Challenger candidates James Lamborn, Mike Saville and Kirk Jackson are also planning to attend the GOP event.

The second event will be held on Thursday, May 2 in the Preston High School Auditorium, featuring the Republican candidates for county commissioners in Franklin Districts 1 and 3, as well as the candidates vying for the post of county sheriff.

In District 1, the candidates are Zan Bowles, Alexander Erickson, David Formica, Stephanie Chatterton Gunn and Blake Rindlisbaker.

In District 3, the candidates are Dianne Burnett and Zachary R. Stewart.

The candidates running to replace outgoing Sheriff David Fryar include Levi Cann, Cuyler Stoker, Micah Talbot and Mike C. Wilson.

“The format for each of these events will include the candidates being given time to introduce themselves and present their campaign goals,” according to Todd Thomas, the chair of the Franklin GOP.

“Several questions to each candidate will then be presented by the moderator that will address topics of interest and concern to us all, to assist in evaluating their suitability for public office.”

Thomas urges all Franklin residents to mark their calendars for evenings of voter education on April 25 and May 2.
