LOGAN — The William A. Burnard Warming Center has, for a few winters now, provided a warm shelter for individuals and families with nowhere else to go on a cold night. They have provided a crucial service that previously was not available in Cache Valley, setting up their respite at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Logan.
They depend entirely on grants and public support through individual donations, business sponsors and more. Hannah Hathaway, assistant manager at Jack’s Wood Fired Oven in Logan, with help from some employees, have organized a fundraiser for the warming center.
On KVNU’s For the People program on Wednesday, Hathaway said they have already been with the center in meal delivery.
“We are excited to have our first Friends Giving benefit dinner for the Warming Center this year. This all kind of coming together as a team right now. We, last year, did weekly meal deliveries for them…yeah, every week our kitchen manager would hand deliver meals over there. So, we’re hoping to encourage other businesses to get involved and (give) back to the community. We’ve been really fortunate to get through the last few years as a business here. And we’re happy to be able to give back,” Hathaway explained.
The event is Thursday, November 21st at 6:30 p.m. and it’s called Jack’s Friends Giving for the William A. Burnard Warming Center.
“If you head to JacksWoodFiredOven.com/friendsgiving, there’s more information about the event, and then it will also take you to a website, Eventbrite, is what we’re using for ticketing. You’ll pay $50 per person, you can reserve just a single chair, you can reserve for a party up to six. That saves you a spot, pre-pays for your entire Barbecue platter, live music, the entire evening.”
There is also a silent auction that includes ski passes from Beaver Mountain, gifts from Caffe Ibis, Spirit Goat and other businesses.
