BOX ELDER COUNTY — A man was hospitalized in serious condition after a crash that resulted in his car becoming pinned under a semi-truck. The accident was reported just before 7 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23 west of Corrine.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the man was driving a Toyota Camry along SR-83.

Near milepost 1, the semi-truck pulled out of the Walmart distribution center in front of the Toyota. The car went under the empty trailer of the semi and became lodged.

According to emergency radio communication, the driver of the semi-truck called 911. They reported the driver of the Toyota was alert and breathing but trapped inside the vehicle.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene. They removed the roof of the car and extricated the man.

Paramedics transported the man to a hospital in serious condition. UHP troopers said they did not believe the injuries were life-threatening.

The crash blocked both directions of SR-83 for several hours. It was later reopened just before 9 a.m.
