January 16, 1930 ~ June 15, 2023 (age 93)

Donna Annie Thornock Cook returned home to her loving Heavenly Father on Thursday, June 15, 2023. She was born on January 16, 1930, to Kenneth Orin Thornock and Bardella Annie Rasmussen in Hazleton, Idaho. She lived in a few places throughout her life, including: Montpelier, Idaho; Logan, Utah; San Diego, California; Colorado; Florida; McLean, Virginia; Littleton, Colorado; and Brigham City, Utah.

She married the love of her life, Alton Dudley Cook, in the Logan Temple on May 6, 1948. They were married for 43 wonderful years. Alton passed away on June 24, 1991.

Donna was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many callings: Relief Society President, Young Women’s President, Compassionate Service Leader, and in the Primary. She also served two missions: San Diego California Family History Mission in 1991 and Distribution Center Mission in Brigham City, Utah.

She was also very active in her community and participated in the following: Ladies Community Club, served in the Daughter of Utah Pioneers, Delegate for the Republican Party, supported her husband as the Director of FEMA under President Reagan, and worked in the Brigham City Offices.

Donna enjoyed sketch and painting arts, sewing, and painting woodcrafts. She loved being a grandma and great-grandma. Her favorite place was going to her property at Bear Lake. She delighted in cooking for her family and was known for serving everyone. She relished the times playing checkers with the grandchildren. She had unwavering faith and determination through many trials.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Jody Jones at Aegis Hospice, the love and support of her friends and family, and the Brigham City 4th Ward family that supported her.

She is survived by her daughter, Trudy Malan, 9 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren.

Donna is preceded in death by her sweetheart: Alton Dudley Cook; son: Gary Cook; parents; and siblings: Richard, Russ, Melva, and Doris.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Perry 1st Ward, 2815 South 1200 West, Perry, Utah.

Viewings will be held the night before on Friday, June 23, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East, Brigham City, Utah, and prior to the service from 9:00 – 9:45 a.m. at the church house.

Interment will be in the Garden City Cemetery.

Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at Myers Mortuary.
