June 10, 1938 ~ August 17, 2023 (age 85)
Deanna Deakin Grunig returned home to her loving Heavenly Father on Thursday, August 17, 2023. She was born on June 10, 1938, to Ephraim Ray and Iva McNeely Deakin in Brigham City, Utah.
She lived in Tremonton, Utah and Brigham City, Utah. She graduated from Bear River High School.
Deanna is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She married the love of her life, Gary Herman Grunig, on June 10, 1957, in Pocatello, Idaho. They were married for 66 wonderful years. He passed away on February 12, 2007.
She enjoyed dancing, crafting, floral arranging, cleaning, camping, shopping, and talking. She also delighted in cooking and baking for her family.
Deanna deeply loved every one of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and was involved with all of their interests.
The family would like to give a special thanks to her home health angels, Carly Thompson, Kristi, and her hospice team, and to Lisa Beard who stayed with Geri to the end.
Deanna is survived by her children: Geri Grunig Shaw and Robert Logan Grunig; daughter-in-law: Lisa Beard; 5 grandchildren: Crystal Parker (Patrick), Logan Grunig (Carly), Colten Grunig, Dalton Grunig (Shaylie), and Shaili Mitchell (Jarrod); and 14 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her dear husband: Gary; her parents: Ephraim and Iva; and sisters: Colleen Deakin Whitaker and LaRay Deakin Stark.
Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Brigham City Cemetery.
A viewing will be held from 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East, Brigham City, Utah.
