Dale M. Dorius passed away suddenly on November 22, 2023, at his home in Fayette, Utah.
He was born June 6, 1937, in Fayette, Utah to Clyde Louis Olsen Dorius and Naomi Margaret Mellor. Dale grew up in Fayette, Utah and graduated from Gunnison Valley High School where he served as Student Body President. He also served as President of the Future Farmers of America.
He served a mission to the East Central States serving in Tennessee and Kentucky from 1958-60. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1961 receiving a Bachelor degree. He studied law at George Washington University Law School in Washington DC receiving a Juris Doctor degree in 1964. During law school he worked as a law clerk, US Capitol policeman and an assistant in Senator Bennett’s Office. He was a member of the Utah State Bar, Colorado State Bar and California State Bar Associations. He served as a Utah State Bar Commissioner for three years. He was a member of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys and was honored by the United States Congressional Coalition on Adoption receiving the “Angel of Adoption” Award. Over his 59 years of legal practice, what brought him joy was uniting many families through the adoption process.
In 1968, he opened his law practice in Brigham City, Utah and Gunnison, Utah. He appeared in courts throughout the whole state of Utah and continued to practice law and served members of the community until his passing. Dale was passionate about helping others and was a peacemaker in all types of situations.
He married DeLoris Peters on August 25, 1967, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with five children, Dona (David) Barlow of Alpine; Jennifer (Nick) Reyes (Perry, UT); Darci (Jacob) Linares (Stockton, UT); Dru (Melissa) Dorius (Ogden, UT); and Dallin Dorius (Winter Park, Florida); Grandchildren: Tanner (Raina) Linares, Emily Barlow, Jackson Barlow, Ashlyn Reyes, Samantha Linares, Rachel Barlow, Tyler Linares, Kelton Reyes, Kadyn Reyes, Brielle Dorius and Ezra Dorius; Great-Granddaughter: Adalee Linares.
He worked with family members to establish and manage Warm Creek Ranch and Cedar Springs Ranch, family ranches located in Sanpete, Juab, Millard, and Box Elder Counties which continues a fourth generation of cattle ranching.
He loved to travel with DeLoris and his family. He took many trips, some of his favorite being Jackson Hole, Disneyland and enjoyed traveling with the BYU Cougar Club.
He loved to talk to people and was supportive and encouraging to all he met. He rarely went anywhere without making a connection with someone he knew.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Fayette Chapel, 99 South 100 East, Fayette, Utah.
Friends may visit with family 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. prior to the services.
Interment will be at the Brigham City Cemetery.
