ABC/Paula Lobo(NEW YORK) — Fourteen years after the original movie swooped into theaters, The Incredibles 2 is back for even more superhero action.

This time around, mom Helen, aka Elastigirl — voiced by Holly Hunter — goes back to work while Bob, aka Mr. Incredible, stays home with their three supercharged kids.

Craig T. Nelson, who voices Bob, says it’s much harder for his character to be a super-dad than a superhero.

“Well he’s struggling with everything,” Nelson tells ABC Radio. “I mean it’s the fact that he can’t do what he’s really good at doing, which is being a superhero, and he now is given the opportunity of taking care of these insane people at home who are his kids and each one has a different super power.”

He adds, “But at the same time they’re just kids, and he hasn’t really been a dad.”

It’s something Nelson — and a lot of parents out there — can relate to.

“I’ve been both,” he says. “I’ve been out there in the workplace…and stayed at home and took care of the kids while my wife went out and worked, sure. There’s a lot of guys that do that.”

Now, he has great-grandkids to dote on and he says he can’t wait for a whole new generation to experience The Incredibles.

“It’s gonna be really exciting ’cause they’re old enough,” the 74-year-old says of his great-grandkids. “I can hardly wait to see what they think.”

The Incredibles 2 is out now. Disney is the parent company of ABC News.
