LOGAN — A 44-year-old Colorado man has been arrested for allegedly stealing a vehicle from a Nibley woman, according to law enforcement. Shannon Ashawn Palmer was booked Tuesday into the Cache County Jail after a warrant was previously signed for his arrest.
According to the warrant affidavit, the alleged victim contacted the Cache County Sheriff’s Office in April, claiming her vehicle had been stolen by an individual who had been staying at her home. She explained how she met Palmer on a dating website and the two had been in a relationship for over a year.
The woman told deputies how Palmer allegedly manipulated her into allowing him to stay at her home several times when he claimed to be in town. During those visits he would become verbally and emotionally abusive.
The alleged victim explained how Palmer belittled her until he had convinced her to buy a vehicle for him to drive in January 2024. The woman reportedly took out a loan to buy the SUV and allowed him to use it, the warrant stated.
Three months later, Palmer allegedly left and stole the vehicle after a verbal argument turned physical. He refused to return the SUV, until it was reportedly impounded by police in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
According to jail records, Palmer was booked on suspicion of theft, a second-degree felony. He is being held in jail on $10,000 bond.
Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
