LOGAN – Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband will return to Cache Valley to perform their own brand of Christmas show on Dec. 13.

That event is slated for 7:30 p.m. on Dec.13 at the Logan High School Auditorium.

The band’s Christmas show will feature the same light-hearted, acoustic sound that brightens their live concerts throughout the year, but tailored especially to the holiday season.

Having been performing throughout Utah and the West for nearly three decades, Shupe’s five-piece ensemble has developed their own repertoire of Christmas music.

Their holiday set list includes a calypso-influence “Rudolph the Red Nosed Raindeer,” a beatnik version of “Little Drummer Boy” and a bluegrass rendition of “Jingle Bells.” The band will also perform variations of their original tune “The Corndog Song” restyled as “The Eggnog Song,” and “The Grinch Went Down to Whoville,” based on Charlie Daniel’s immortal “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.”

While guaranteed to be fun and energetic, the band’s Christmas show will also capture the spirit of the season with a beautiful instrumental arrangement of “Carol of the Bells” and a sing-along of “Silent Night,” as well as original holiday tunes composed by Shupe and other musicians.

Founded in Ogden in the mid-1990s, Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband is a professional country-bluegrass group that previously performed numerous times here in Cache Valley.

The band’s current line-up includes Shupe, singing lead and playing fiddle, guitar, ukulele, mandolin; Roger Archibald on guitar and vocals; Craig Miner on banjo, bouzouki, mandolin, guitar and vocals; Josh Larsen on bass guitar, upright bass and vocals; and Nate Young on drums and vocals.

Over the years, the band has released eight albums including “Dream Big” (2005), “Last Man Standing” (2008), “Brand New Shoes” (2010), “We Rode On” and a string of albums recorded during live performances.

Noted for their stellar musicianship, tight harmonies and family-friendly performances, Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband’s Christmas Show could be a sell-out.
