LOGAN – The upcoming performance by the Canadian trio the Wailin’ Jennys at the Ellen Eccles Theatre will actually be a return engagement for one of their vocalists.
The lovely Heather Masse previously graced the Eccles’ stage on Aug. 4, when radio personality Garrison Keillor introduced her as one of his favorite duet partners during a surprising song-filled show here.
Ms. Masse harmonized beautifully with Keillor throughout the evening, but her most memorable contribution was an ethereal solo rendition of “Summertime” from the George Gershwin musical Porgy and Bess.
While performing here with Nicky Mehta and Ruth Moody as the Wailin’ Jennys, however, their repertoire will focus on the folk music that has won the ensemble international acclaim.
For more than 20 years, music critics have praised the Wailin’ Jennys for having three distinct voices that blend together to make an achingly perfect vocal sound.
The Wailin’ Jennys will perform here in Logan at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11.
Starting in 2002 as a happy accident when solo singer/songwriters got together for a one-time-only performance at a tiny guitar shop in Winnipeg, the Wailin’ Jennys have evolved over the years into one of today’s most beloved folk music acts.
The ensemble’s trademark music combines fresh and innovative sounds with their signature harmonies, creating a perfect mix of Americana, pop and traditional folk tunes.
The Wailin’ Jennys are currently on tour, trying out new songs with U.S. audiences in preparation for their upcoming sixth album release.
The Canadian trio’s appearance here in Logan is part of the 2025-2026 National Touring Season being hosted by the Cache Valley Center for the Arts at the Ellen Eccles Theatre.
