LOGAN – Cache Valley residents are being invited to a gathering where they can meet Democratic gubernatorial candidate Brian King.

Sponsored by the Executive Committee of the Cache County Democrats, the Meet and Mingle summer party for fellow Democrats and supportive community members is slated for 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 29 at Willow-Horseshoe Park in Logan.

King will be the guest of honor, but party officials expect other local Democratic candidates will also be on-hand to greet supporters.

“This will be family-friendly event,” according to Shannon Rhodes, the Cache County Democratic chair, “with food and yard games for all ages.”

Rhodes says the Meet and Mingle event will also be a good time to pick up yard signs and engage with other Democrats in Cache Valley.

A native of Salt Lake City, King’s family has roots in Wayne and Garfield counties where his grandfather once raised cattle and sheep.

After serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Missouri, King decided to follow in the footsteps of his father and two older brothers to become a lawyer.

His practice evolved into trial law representing individuals who have been harmed by health insurers’ wrongful denial of claims. King’s commitment to representing those whose mental health and substance use disorder treatment claims were denied by insurance companies reflected his dedication to justice and advocacy.

Elected to the Utah Legislature in 2008, he later assumed the role of House minority leader from 2015 to 2023.

In navigating the complexities of legislation, King has learned the art of thoughtful disagreement for the better—a principle he carried into the legislative sphere from his personal and professional life.
