LOGAN — The American Red Cross of Utah is partnering with organizations in Logan, Smithfield, Mendon, and Providence to host crucial blood drives throughout Cache County during the next several weeks.
Michael Smauldon, Executive Director of the American Red Cross of Northern Utah and Southwest Wyoming Chapter explained that since the pandemic began, the number of blood donors nationwide has dropped 10 percent, and the blood supply remains in need, said. He said, “With supply remaining vulnerable, we want to encourage the community to play an important role in saving lives by donating blood.”
Cache County residents can give blood:
• Thursday, April 13, 2 p.m. – 8 p.m., at the Logan Utah Stake Building
• Monday, April 18, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., at the Utah State University Taggart Center
• Monday, April 18, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., at the Utah State University Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art
• Tuesday, April 19, 2 p.m. – 8 p.m., at the Providence Utah Stake Building
• Tuesday, April 19, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., at Sol Speak Yoga in Logan
• Wednesday, April 20, 1 p.m. – 7 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church of Logan
• Wednesday, April 20, 2 p.m. – 8 p.m., at Smithfield Utah North Stake Building
• Friday, April 22, 1 p.m. – 7 p.m., at the North Logan Utah Green Canyon Stake Building
• Friday, April 22, 1 p.m. – 7 p.m., at the Smithfield Utah Stake Building
• Friday, April 22, 2 p.m. – 8 p.m., at the Mendon Utah Stake Building
Smauldon said as the country continues to face a fragile blood supply, these blood drives will benefit the communities of Logan, Mendon, Smithfield, Hyrum and Providence and the entire state of Utah. He knows the residents of Cache County appreciate the importance of blood drives and will donate now because they have seen how enthusiastically they have answered the call in the past.

Smauldon explained how every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood – a patient battling cancer, a car accident victim, or a parent experiencing a difficult childbirth. He said, “Together, we can continue to ensure lifesaving blood is available wherever and whenever it is needed.”
