Republican Party officials throughout Utah have set their schedules for county and state caucuses and conventions leading up to the general election of 2024.
LOGAN – With the statewide caucus night just two weeks away, Gov. Spencer Cox is urging all Utahns to “preserve the state’s traditions and protect the neighborhood caucus process.”

Cache GOP caucus events are slated for Tuesday, Mar. 5, where the citizens of all 78 voting precincts in Cache County will meet to select precinct officials and delegates to represent them at the county nominating convention on April 13.
“Utah experimented with a direct primary system from 1937 to 1947,” the governor explains in an animated Facebook post.
“That marked the end of a disastrous decade in Utah politics,” he adds. “During that time, Utah populists dumped the primary system when voter turnout declined to only 10 percent,” opting instead for neighborhood caucus events.
The current caucus/convention system will feature two rounds of voting.
At the caucus events from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Mar. 5, registered Republicans will vote to select precinct officials and delegates to represent them.
The GOP will also conduct its presidential preference polling that evening, giving caucus attendees the opportunity to be involved in selecting Utah’s pick for the next president of the United States.
On Saturday, April 13, the Cache Republican Party will host its nominating convention, where precinct officials and delegates will vote to decide which candidates move forward to the primary balloting on Tuesday, June 25.
