CACHE COUNTY – The winners to be honored at the 2024 Cache Valley Chamber of Commerce’s annual Awards Gala have been announced.

That event will take place at the Riverwoods Conference Center on Friday, Mar. 8.

Jaime Andrus, president and CEO of the local chamber organization, promises that the 2024 Awards Gala will be one of the best events of the year.

In addition to honoring businesses and individuals who contributed to the community this year, the chamber’s leaders decided it was high time to look at some legacy businesses and organizations that have been part of Cache Valley’s landscape for decades or longer.

During a previous “For the People” interview on KVNU, Andrus cited the Black & White Days event in Richmond as one of those legacy contributors.

“I’ll give you just a little sneak peak,” Andrus told host Jason Williams. “We’re going to honor Black & White Days. Did you know that they’ve been around for over 100 years?”

The Richmond festival will be honored as the Community Legacy Event of the Year, Andrus explained.

Another valley landmark – this one pushing 130 years – is S.E. Needham Jewelers on Main Street. In continuous operation since 1896, the family business will be honored as the Legacy Business of the Year.

Also being honored in that category is the Central Milling Company of Logan, which has been in operation since 1867.

“Central Milling is the oldest, longest running business in the state of Utah,” Andrus said on KVNU. “That’s why we chose it.”

Finally, Utah Public Radio is being singled out for recognition as the Legacy Non-Profit of the Year, by virtue of its more than 70 years of broadcasting from the campus of Utah State University to listeners statewide.

Those being honored for contemporary contributions to the Cache Valley community include Ross and Kay Peterson as Citizens of the Year and Marsha Campbell as Woman of the Year.

The Carol and Jim Laub Plaza in downtown Logan will be recognized as the New Project of the Year and the Center Street Giant Pumpkin Festival will be honored as New Event of the Year.

The Chamber’s black-tie gala will begin at 6 p.m. with a social hour, followed by dinner and the awards presentations at 7 p.m. on Mar. 8 in the Riverwoods Conference Center.

The Riverwood Conference Center is located at 615 South Riverwoods Parkway in Logan.
