LOGAN – The Cache Valley Chamber of Commerce has announced the keynote and guest speakers for its upcoming Greater Cache Valley Economic Summit for 2026.
That annual event is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at the Riverwoods Conference Center.
The keynote speaker will be economist Tim Mahedy, the founder of Access/Macro, a macroeconomic consulting firm.
Other speakers will include John Gilbert and T. Scott Findley, both professors of Economics and Finance at Utah State University.
Also participating will be Cache County Executive George Daines and Mark Smoot, the president of the Bear Lake Valley Chamber of Commerce.
The topics to be discussed at half-day summit, which is being jointly sponsored by the Cache Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Bank of Utah, will include a local economic update, the state of Utah water, the future of Bear Lake and the state of Cache County.
Mahedy’s says that his consulting company, Access/Macro, makes “smart bank smarter” by bringing Wall-Street level expertise to the broader financial services community.
His previous experience includes service as an analyst at the International Monetary Fund and Citibank in New York as well as chief of staff and COO at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.
Mahedy’s research covers a wide range of topics, but he specializes in inflation and monetary policy.
At USU, Gilbert teaches international economics and conducts research on trade policy and theory.
Findley teaches macro/public economics at Utah State and conducts research on pension design.
The Chamber summit on Feb. 10 will begin with check-in for participants at 9 a.m., followed by Daines summarizing the State of the County at 9:30 a.m.
Smoot will discuss the status of Bear Lake at 10 a.m.
A panel discussion will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. with Gilbert and Findley, moderated by Dr. Sterling Bone, a professor of marketing at the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at USU.
Following a networking session and lunch break, Mahedy will speak at 12 p.m.
The Riverwoods Conference Center is located at 615 South Riverwoods Parkway in Logan.
