LOGAN — Law enforcement and emergency crews were called to investigate a grenade found inside a home Wednesday afternoon. The incident was reported around 4 p.m. near 370 W. 400 North.

According to emergency radio communications at the time, the grenade was discovered in the home’s basement.

Logan City Police Capt. Shand Nazer said family members told officers, they were cleaning their father’s home and found the explosive looking device, fearing the worst.

Police officers blocked the street in front of the residence and requested the bomb squad.

Nazer explained that when bomb technicians arrived on the scene, they determined the grenade was inert and posed no threat.
