LOGAN – The Bastian Family, honored Monday by Utah State University President Noelle Cockett during her final “State of the University” address, was recognized by USU again this week.

The Bastian Family Foundation’s $41.25 million gift in 2022 helped USU achieve a school record $110 million in donations last year.
Utah State University Extension presented its “Friend of Extension Award” to the Bastian Family at Extension’s annual conference in early March. The award was announced Tuesday.
The donation, made to honor and preserve Utah’s farming past, present and future, is the largest single gift in USU history.
The Bastian Family founded the Bastian Agricultural Center at the former Salt Lake County Equestrian Park and Event Center in South Jordan. Its mission is to educate the public about contemporary agriculture and inspire future generations by providing programs in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) as they apply to agriculture.
USU Extension Vice President Ken White thanked the family for their generous donations.
“In addition to the center, they have donated decades of agriculture knowledge, which is a huge support to the center’s mission and goals,” he said.
The Friend of Extension is an annual award to honor individuals or organizations for their support in furthering Extension efforts.
