RICH COUNTY — State wildlife officials are investigating the suspected intentional killing of a mule deer fawn near Randolph around New Year’s Eve.

According to the Utah Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the incident occurred on or about Dec. 31, 2025, on Big Creek Road. Investigators determined that a vehicle traveling west of Randolph veered off the roadway to strike the deer.

Evidence recovered at the scene, including tire tracks, indicates the animal was intentionally targeted by the driver. Officers are now asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the individual or vehicle involved in the incident.
