RICHMOND — Law enforcement has released the identity of the victim killed in Monday night’s vehicle crash in Richmond.
Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Jason Kendrick said Timothy Christian Moosman, a 44-year-old man from Preston, Idaho died in the accident.
Moosman and his wife were traveling northbound along US-91 in a Dodge pickup truck around 6:10 p.m. Just north of the Main Street intersection, a silver Ford pickup truck was traveling southbound, when it crossed into oncoming traffic.
The Ford was being driven by a 20-year-old River Heights man, Kyler Hancey. Initial evidence suggests he was suffering from fatigue or fell asleep, causing his truck to cross into the northbound lanes.
Troopers report a northbound red pickup, in the inside lane, swerved to try and miss the Ford truck but was struck on the passenger side. The three occupants inside the truck were uninjured.
The Ford continued on and hit the Dodge truck head-on that was being driven by Moosman. A fourth vehicle was hit by debris from the crash.
Kendrick said Moosman was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to the hospital.
Troopers report, Hancey was also wearing a seatbelt. He was hospitalized with serious injuries.
Kendrick said the investigation is still ongoing. Upon completion, the case will be turned over to the Cache County Attorney’s Office, to consider any charges.
Funeral services for Moosman are still being arranged.
