LOGAN — An armed felon wanted on an out-of-state warrant surrendered peacefully Sunday following a domestic violence dispute that triggered a SWAT containment operation at a Nibley residence, authorities said.

Cache County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Mikelshan Bartschi explained how deputies responded to a home near 3805 S. 100 West after family members reported a domestic disturbance involving Abraham Quesada. Relatives contacted law enforcement out of concern for their immediate safety, advising deputies that Quesada was armed with two handguns and had threatened to kill them.

Upon initial contact with responding deputies, Quesada refused to leave the home. Authorities said Quesada, who has a prior prison record, explicitly stated that he would not go back to prison and refused to cooperate.

Due to the suspect’s active felony warrant out of Idaho, the fresh domestic violence allegations, and the presence of firearms, the Cache County SWAT team and armored tactical vehicles were deployed to secure the neighborhood and protect the public.

Following extensive tactical negotiations, team members successfully persuaded Quesada to surrender without further incident or injury. A subsequent search of the residence by investigators led to the recovery of multiple firearms.

Quesada was taken into custody and booked into the Cache County Jail. He faces pending local criminal charges in addition to the fugitive warrant.

The Cache County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to the Logan City Police Department for providing operational support during the high-risk standoff. Officials also thanked neighborhood residents for their cooperation.

Bartschi said in a statement, “By giving our team the necessary space and leeway to operate, you helped ensure we could safely apprehend a dangerous felon and bring a high-risk situation to a peaceful resolution.”
