RICHMOND – Skiers and snowboarders are waxing their equipment and getting ready to hit the slopes with all the snow we’ve had falling in Cache Valley recently.

Cache County’s two ski resorts have reported the snow is well above last year’s levels and both will be ready to open next week.

Cherry Peak Ski Resort located just east of Richmond City is reported they have had over 64 inches year to date and today they have over a 30-inch base.

“We had 20-inch base and we are adding to it by making snow,” Dustin Hansen Cherry Peak operations manager said.  “Mother Nature has been kind to us this year. We plan to open Dec. 8.”

Beaver Mountain’s Human Resource Manager Kristy Seeholzer said the snow is looking good this year.

“We have more snow than we had last year for our opening,” she said. “We will plan to open for season pass holders on Wednesday Dec. 7, and everyone else on Dec. 8.”
