LOGAN — With the holiday season here, it’s time again for the 25th Anniversary of the Parade of Gingerbread Homes contest in Downtown Logan, Saturday Dec. 7 until Tues. Dec. 31.
Lexi Yorgason and Mandy Idso decided to enter this year’s competition. This is the first time the two avid bakers decided to put their baking skills up against 11 other architects and enter the contest. They are modeling their gingerbread home after a home in North Logan and calling it the Gnome Home. It will be displayed at Starbucks Logan Square, 37 North Main.
“So far, we have put in about 18 to 20 hours and we have more to go,” Yorgason said. “We have to have it ready by Saturday.”
The two have been baking together since they were in high school.
“I am a homemaker, and Mandy works fulltime at Utah State University, so we had to work on our project without interrupting our family time,” she said. “I’m raising four children, and she is raising two children.”
Gary Saxton of the Downtown Alliance said they are excited about hosting the 25th year of this local tradition which attracts people to local businesses.
The public is welcome to participate by voting on their favorite edible wonderland. This year, each architect will have a chance to win one of six $100 Grand Prizes. Voting Ballots are available at downtown Logan host locations.
