Among the 11 new COVID-19 deaths reported Friday by the Utah Department of Health (UDOH) is a Box Elder County woman who was older than 85 and was a long-term care facility resident.

The state’s COVID death toll has grown to 4,408 since the start of the pandemic, 224 of those deaths in Cache, Box Elder and Rich counties.

With 425 new COVID positive cases in the state’s Friday report  there have now been 921,956 cases since the pandemic began. UDOH said 31 of the total cases  Friday were found in northern Utah.

More than 51,000 of the total positive COVID cases reported in Utah the last 23 months have come from Cache, Box Elder and Rich counties. Since the outbreak began 1,979 in the Bear River Health District have been hospitalized.

Currently 372 Utahns are hospitalized with COVID — 23 fewer than Thursday — and among those 101 are in intensive care, nine more than Thursday. More than 33,000 Utahns have been hospitalized during the pandemic.

With 5,165 people vaccinated since Thursday, the number of Utahns fully vaccinated is now 1.98 million, about 61 percent of the state’s population. More than 4.9  million doses have been administered statewide.

Currently 58 percent of the 186,818 people living in northern Utah are totally vaccinated and almost 255,000 total doses have been administered in the Bear River Health District.

More than 4.9 million people in Utah have been tested and 3,539 Utahns were tested since Thursday and over 9.2 million total tests have been administered the last 23 months. Total tests administered since Wednesday are 8,359.

Utah’s new rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 559 a day.

The latest seven-day rolling average for percent positivity of “people over people” is 18.4 percent while the rolling seven-day average for percent positivity of “tests over tests” is 10.7 percent.

Idaho’s Friday COVID update indicates 4,722 coronavirus deaths and the new total of confirmed COVID-19 cases is 421,587 statewide. New case counts in the three southeast Idaho counties include 2,324 total positives in Franklin County, 903 in Bear Lake County and 789 in Oneida County.
