LOGAN — The Cache Refugee and Immigrant Connection, also known as CRIC,  is a local organization that strives to give a helping hand to immigrants from all over the world. These ones have ended up in Cache Valley as refugees through both federal and state programs and they are tying to adapt in a foreign land.

This Saturday, June 17th, from 5p.m. to 8p.m. CRIC will be observing World Refugee Day(recognized internationally on June 20th).

On KVNU’s For the People program on Monday, Amanda Anderson from CRIC told us about this year’s event, which will be held at Logan’s Willow Park.

“Yes, it will be a wonderful event and we will have food from all over the world and face painting and games. It’s really a great event to bring together the community,” she explained.

CRIC helps new individuals and families who may have just come from thousands of miles from their home countries to find gainful employment and get acclimated to their new home.

We are very much involved with helping individuals as they integrate into the community here in Logan from everything, from getting jobs to helping them register for classes at the English Language Center, and also just integrating with the whole community at large.”

She said World Refugee Day is a great event for people in the Logan community to meet these individuals and families and get to know their stories.

The night will also feature an amazing cultural dance program.  You can get more information at CacheRefugees.org
