May 17, 1928 – March 26, 2024 (age 95)

Alton DeMarr Griffiths, aged 95, died March 25, 2024 at his home due to heart failure.

Alton DeMarr was born May 17, 1928 in Clarkston, UT. He was the son of Andrew Heggie and Lydia Adline Godfrey Griffiths He graduated from North Cache High School in 1946. He served an LDS mission to the California Mission and then served in the Army during the Korean conflict. He married Marilyn Frank March 27, 1953 in the Logan LDS Temple.

Alton DeMarr worked for Thiokol for 31 years, retiring in 1990. His real passion was his second job of farming, running 225+ acres. DeMarr and Marilyn served two LDS family history missions in the New Hampshire Manchester Mission, microfilming vital statistics records. He loved to spend time with family, watch westerns on TV, and tell stories about farming, tractors, rocket ships, and growing up in Clarkston.

He is survived by his two sons, Kim (Hazelann) and Kent (Janice), son-in-law Michael Cutter (Kim), and his sisters, Theo Buttars, Phyllis Griffin Mortensen, and Veda Hadley. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, and 9 great-children.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn, 2 daughters, Christine, and Aleta Cutter, his parents, 2 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, brothers Lowell, Weldon, and Asael, and sisters Lydia Benson, VaLoice Griffiths, and Sadie Hatch.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 2, 11:00 am at the Clarkston LDS Church, 25 E 100 S, Clarkston, UT 84305.

Viewings will be held Monday, April 1 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Tuesday, April 2, 9:30 am – 10:30 am, at the Clarkston LDS Church.

Interment will be at the Clarkston cemetery.
