LOGAN – The 2025 Academic Olympiad in late-January at Utah State University finished in an unusual three-way tie, which was settled through several rounds of tie-breaking questions. The Logan High team scored the most total team points overall followed by Murray and Davis High Schools.
More than 200 students representing 26 schools competed in individual and team events.
Logan High’s Finn Mason was the total points leader and also won in the Science competition. The individual winner in Math was Holden Dao (Davis High) while Ian Jacobson (Syracuse High) was first in Social Studies and Amy Farley (Bountiful High) won in Language Arts.
Team awards went to Davis (Math), Logan (Social Studies and Science) and Murray (Language Arts).
Other local students scored well, with Green Canyon’s Brandt Johnson finishing 3rd in Social Studies; Logan’s Miles Wind finishing 2nd in Science; and, Green Canyon’s Hazel Balling finishing 2nd in Language Arts.
The Academic Olympiad dates back to 1985, created by a a partnership between USU and the Northern Curriculum Consortium (NUCC).
