LOGAN — Manufacturers large and small will learn new ways to succeed through a conference sponsored by the Cache Valley Chamber of Commerce next week.
On KVNU’s For the People program last week, chamber president, Jamie Andrus said upcoming events include the NUME conference (Northern Utah Manufacturing Excellence) on October 25th at the Cache County Events Center at the fairgrounds.
Andrus said one of the main sponsors of this event is Impact Utah, and one of their training events is a Pit Crew Challenge.
“And if you’ve never heard of a Pit Crew Challenge, they bring in a retired race car, and they teach team work and leadership around changing the tires as a pit crew would during a race. So they’ll actually have a car in the events center along with some other really cool events.”
She said it’s a chance for the manufacturing community and other businesses as well to come and learn about some of the things that really pertain to both small and large manufacturers.
Andrus said attendees will greatly benefit from the keynote speaker, Ken Snyder, at the end of the conference.
“The executive director of the Shingo Institute which is a world-renowned institution that started at USU, and is part of the school of business. But it’s an incredible organization and you’re going to learn a little bit about that and it’s one of those little secret things that happens right here in our valley that nobody knows about.”
Other events on the horizon include the Cache Business Women’s Conference, which will be held November 1st at the Riverwoods Conference Center
“We expect to sell it out, we had almost 300 women attend last year, a full day conference full of really incredible speakers and networking opportunities. I just want to say, we’re so excited that we’re going to be hearing from Diana Sabau, our new athletic director at USU, she’s going to be our lunch keynote speaker. We also have Becky Potts coming from the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.”
