Nathan Pacheco, performing at the Ellen Eccles Theatre, Dec. 4, 2023.
LOGAN — Nathan Pacheco grew up in a musical home where his mother taught classical piano. As a teenager, living in Virginia, he and his family traveled to Logan to watch his older sister perform in the Utah Festival Opera Company.
Monday night, he will return to Logan to perform “A Nathan Pacheco Christmas.” The concert will be held in the Ellen Eccles Theatre.
Nathan said the show will feature Christmas favorites, original music, and other classics that will make for an unforgettable night.
“I actually just finished writing and recording a musical that I’ve made into an audio book,” Nathan explained. “I absolutely love musicals and I’m going to be featuring a couple songs from that project. My goal is to help people feel the spirit of Christmas, not only through the Christmas songs but through some other good uplifting music.”
Nathan Pacheco has become one of the great tenor voices of his generation and has been featured globally in live performances, including touring the United States, Canada, and Mexico with Yanni; performing with Latin singing sensation Olga Tañon; touring England, Scotland, and Wales with Katherine Jenkins and the National Symphony Orchestra; performing for Prince Charles in conjunction with the British Forces Foundation and the USO; and performing with orchestras and symphonies around the US.
Growing up and taking classical piano lessons definitely had an impact shaping Nathan’s passion for music. He always loved to sing but it was an experience in high school, watching Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, which put him on the path he’s on now.
“I just absolutely loved the way that he blended classical music with pop music,” said Nathan, “I thought it was just an incredible mix. So I started to gravitate in that direction, even though I continued to study the classical operatic style of singing, my heart was definitely on this classical crossover style. I have tried to follow in (Andrea’s) footsteps as much as possible because I just really connect with his genre of music.”
Nathan now lives in Alabama with his wife, Katie, and three children. In the spring of 2023, he released Abide With Me, a collection of his favorite hymns.
Tickets for Monday night’s concert can be purchased at the Ellen Eccles Theatre or cachearts.org. Cost is $35 – $68.
