PROVIDENCE — You don’t have to like sauerkraut to be a part of Providence City’s Sauerkraut Days happening all this next week, Monday, August 15th through Saturday, August 20th.

On KVNU’s For the People program on Wednesday organizers Nichole Bone and Ashley Poole were our guests.  Bone told us more about a Sauerkraut Can Hunt that starts on the first day, Monday.

“We’re going to have so much fun with this. Starting on Monday, there will be riddles and clues, there will be two cans a day, Monday through Friday,” said Bone.

She said this is a hunt for all Cache Valley residents, who can get clues on the Providence City social media pages.

If you find a can, you can put it on social media that you found it, then bring it back to the city for a special prize.

Most of the events will be held at Zollinger Park.

Poole talked about how she got involved with the celebration.

“I was asked by a city council member and the mayor to kind of take on this celebration and bring it back after a few years of COVID.  So, it was kind of a ‘I’ll do this, Nichole, if you’ll do it!’ And she was like ‘Well I’m in if you’re in!’ Both of us love a good party and we are really excited about it,”  Poole explained.

After taking a break during the height of the pandemic, this is the 12th celebration of Sauerkraut Days.

Other events during the week include the 1st annual Pickleball Tournament at the Providence courts on Tuesday and Wednesday.

A Family Historic Tour that starts at the Old Rock Church on Thursday evening beginning at 6p.m.
