SMITHFIELD — Last Thursday Bill Hedgecock received an unexpected phone call. He was told to stop into the Smithfield branch of Zions Bank where he had just won a prize, but he didn’t know exactly what he had won until he showed up.
Hedgecock and wife Robyn pulled into the Smithfield branch where branch manager Lynn Godderidge presented them with a surprise $10,000 check.
“I really appreciate it, I really do,” Bill Hedgecock said. “We never win.”
Hedgecock, like thousands of other Zions Bank customers, had entered the Zions Bank Holiday Bankcard Sweepstakes and was randomly drawn as the winner. According to a release from the bank, every client who used a Zions Bank debit or credit card between Oct. 18, 2021 and Jan. 9, 2022 received an automatic entry into the sweepstakes every time they used their card. Additionally, anyone could participate in the sweepstakes by mailing in an entry.
Hedgecock was one of three winners randomly selected from among millions of entries into the sweepstakes.
