LOGAN — A 50-year-old Logan man was officially charged after being arrested on suspicion of sexual battery and stalking after allegedly pursuing a woman and groping her inside a hot tub at a North Logan gym, according to court documents.
Jorge Daniel Jimenez was booked into the Cache County Jail on July 25 following an investigation conducted by the North Park Police Department. He was later released pending the completion of the examination.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the alleged victim contacted law enforcement on July 24 to report that she had been subjected to sexual harassment and unwanted physical contact the previous day. The woman told police that shortly after she entered the swimming pool with her young son, Jimenez began staring at her. For approximately two hours, Jimenez closely monitored her actions and movements around the pool before eventually making verbal contact.
Unsettled by the interaction, the woman swam away to create distance and coordinated with her son to relocate to the facility’s hot tub. According to the affidavit, Jimenez overheard their conversation and quickly followed them into the spa.
Once inside the hot tub, Jimenez allegedly made contact with the woman’s leg using his foot. The woman moved her leg away, initially assuming the brush was accidental, but Jimenez began rubbing her leg again, moving higher. Moments later, Jimenez wrapped both of his legs tightly around her right leg, pinning it so she could not move, police wrote.
The victim reported that she was wearing an outer shirt over her swim top. While her leg remained trapped, Jimenez allegedly reached his hand up under her shirt and attempted to slip his fingers beneath her swimsuit. Driven by fear and adrenaline, the victim managed to wrench her leg free, though not before Jimenez groped her, court records state.
The woman fled the hot tub after roughly four minutes and took her son to the nearby splash pad. When she observed Jimenez get out of the tub and once again walk toward her, she decided to leave the facility. As she headed toward the main building, Jimenez crossed paths with her, grinning and making kissing gestures in her direction, the report states.
According to court records, Jimenez was charged Wednesday in Logan’s 1st District Court. He faces one count of forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony, and stalking, a class A misdemeanor. An initial court appearance has not yet been scheduled.
Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
