LOGAN – After months of inactivity during the heat of the summer, “No Kings” protestors will return to the streets of Logan on Saturday, Oct. 17.
The anti-Trump demonstrators will hold a “Vote Early!” rally at the Cache County Historic Courthouse square from 1 to 2:30 p.m., hoping to inspire a mass march of local residents to the nearby voting dropbox in the parking lot of the County Administration Building.
“It will be a celebration, an orientation and an activation, all at once,” according to Jim Evans, a spokesperson and organizer for WeThePeopleCacheValley.
“As we rally and walk to the dropbox, we’ll demonstrate how to engage in democracy and build a better, cleaner and fairer Utah,” he adds.
The Logan rally will be part of more than 2,300 similar day of action events nationwide organized by Indivisible, a progressive grassroots movement designed to combat authoritarianism and promote democracy by organizing local activists to pressure Congress.
Originally founded in 2016 by Ezra Levin and Leah Greenberg, Indivisible was launched to emulate Tea Party tactics for resisting the Trump agenda by focusing on lobbying, public demonstrations and accountability.
Despite claims of non-partisanship, WeThePeopleCacheValley is the local arm of Indivisible and is strongly allied with the Cache Democratic Party.
“Utah ballots will start arriving in mailboxes on Oct. 13,” Evans explains. “By Oct. 17, many of us will have our ballots in hand.
“So the goal of our local event is simple – bring your own ballot and march to the dropbox.”
Rally organizers statewide expect thousands of Utahns to follow suit at similar events, casting their ballots in a “… public, visible and joyful act of collective participation.”
The “Vote Early!” rallies will be the fourth national day of action organized by Indivisible since President Donald Trump’s birthday on June 14, 2025.
In total, the three previous national mobilizations have brought millions of Americans into the streets to oppose Trump administration policies on immigration, women’s rights, federal overreach, freedom of the press and broader concerns about democratic institutions and the rule of law.
Here in Cache Valley, Evans says that the “No Kings: Vote Early!” rally aims to bring the local community together to ensure that every eligible voter understands their options and has the opportunity to make their voice heard.
He adds that a core principle of all “No Kings” events is a commitment to non-violence.
“We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values,” Evans emphasizes. “Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.”
The Cache County Historic Courthouse square is located at 199 North Main Street in Logan.
