LOGAN — Local law enforcement is warning residents about a dangerous TikTok trend known as the “door kick challenge” that has caused property damage and safety concerns in the community recently.
The challenge involves participants, typically teenagers, kicking or banging aggressively on residential doors at night before fleeing. While similar to the “ding-dong ditch” prank, officials say this trend has escalated to a criminal level, with several residents reporting significant damage to their front doors.
The Cache County Sheriff’s Office urged parents to discuss the legal and safety consequences of the challenge with their children. Beyond the risk of property damage charges, authorities expressed concern that the aggressive nature of the acts could lead to dangerous confrontations with homeowners.
“We encourage everyone to be aware of the dangers associated with this challenge,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. Deputies are asking residents to report any suspicious activity or doorbell camera footage related to these incidents.
