LOGAN – City officials have announced a meeting scheduled for the formal canvass of the results of local 2025 General Election held on Nov. 4.

That gathering of the members of the Logan Municipal Council to certify the balloting results is slated for 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 17.

Unofficial results released as of Nov. 5 had city council member and local businessman Mark Anderson defeating challenger Alanna Nafziger by a margin of more than 1,200 votes out of more than 7,300 ballots cast in the Logan mayoral race.

In another contest where two seats on the city council were up for grabs, incumbent council member Ernesto Lopez and Katie Lee-Koven emerged as winners over candidates Brian Seamons and Melissa Dahle.

The canvass is a post-election process that aggregates and confirms that all valid ballots cast in the election are accurately counted and included in the final election results.

Through that process, election officials determine whether to count provisional ballots, resolve ballot-marking errors, adjudicate voter intent and reconcile the number of ballots cast with the number of people who voted.

The canvass process allows election officials to verify that staff and poll workers followed state-mandated procedures throughout early, absentee, by mail and in-person voting on Election Day.

The canvass meeting will be held in the Logan Municipal Council Chambers in City Hall.

The official canvass can also be viewed on YouTube by going online to www.bit.ly/LoganCouncilMeetings

Logan City Hall is located at 290 North, 100 West in Logan.
