LOGAN — A 26-year-old California man has been arrested on allegations of sexually assaulting a child earlier this year, according to law enforcement. Casey Paul Escalante Jr. was booked Oct. 10 into the Cache County Jail.

According to court documents, Escalante has been charged with rape of a child and sodomy on a child, both first-degree felonies. The crimes reportedly occurred around April 1, 2024, and were investigated by the Logan City Police Department.

Prosecutors with the Cache County Attorney’s Office requested a warrant for Escalante’s arrest Sept. 16. They stated the suspect posed a risk to the alleged victim and could flee.

Jail records show, Escalante was arrested Sept. 24. He was transferred back to Cache Valley last week.

Escalante is being held without bail, pending arraignment in Logan’s 1st District Court. He could face up to life in prison, if convicted.

Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
