LOGAN — Former Cache County Republican Party chair Shellie Giddings, on KVNU’s For the People program on Tuesday, agreed that the Utah legislative session moves at breakneck speed especially early on.
“So fast, and I’m not going to name the name, but one of our local legislators, every session, he’ll call me and ask me if there’s anything coming up that he should know about or that I’m concerned about, which I appreciate. However, he said to me this last time,’I can’t keep up with everything,’” Giddings said.
That is because of the sheer number of legislation being sponsored.
There are a couple things on the calendar locally, the Lincoln Day Dinner, that will be held this Saturday evening in the USU Taggart Student Center Ballroom.
Beyond that, Giddings put in a plug for Caucus Night on March 5th.
“Go to Caucus and get involved and run to be a delegate, a state delegate or a county delegate. It’s not difficult, it does take time, certain times of the year you might get a lot of emails from candidates. But, without it, we don’t see candidates up here, they’re going to stay in Salt Lake.”
