LOGAN — A 58-year-old woman died after being fatally struck by a pickup truck while jogging. The auto-pedestrian accident occurred near 750 E. 1400 North at 5:36 p.m.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Cameron Roden said the accident happened as the woman was jogging westbound on 1400 North, in front of the Oakridge apartment complex.

At the time of the incident, a pickup truck and a semi were both traveling eastbound in the same area.

Roden explained that that the Dodge Dakota pickup had just passed the semi-truck on the left and switched into the right lane. Shortly after, it was reported that the woman crossed to the median and then walked in front of the pickup, resulting in the collusion.

According to emergency radio traffic, the woman suffered critical injuries and was not moving after the crash. She was transported by ambulance to Logan Regional Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

“Troopers are working to confirm the events as reported,” Roden said.

As part of the investigation, eastbound lanes of 1400 North were temporarily closed while a crash reconstruction team was called in to diagram the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
