FRISCO, TX. — Utah State (7-5), representing the Mountain West Conference, and Kent State (6-6), representing the Mid-American Conference, will meet in the 2019 Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl.
The bowl game will be played Friday, Dec. 20, at 6:30 p.m. CT at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. The game will air on ESPN2.
“We are excited to have two outstanding teams participate in the 2019 Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl, the Utah State Aggies and the Kent State Golden Flashes” said Sean Johnson, Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl Executive Director. “We are looking forward to kicking off the bowl season with this great matchup and to welcoming the teams and their great fan bases to Frisco, Texas. It will be an exciting week of bowl events and a fantastic game at Toyota Stadium on December 20.”
Utah State will be playing in its eighth bowl game over the past nine years. The Aggies played in the New Mexico Bowl last year where they beat North Texas 52-13. They are led by junior linebacker David Woodward who leads the Aggies with 93 tackles, including five tackles for loss and two sacks to go along with a team best four forced fumbles.
Kent State last played in a bowl game in 2012 where they lost to Arkansas State in the GoDaddy.com Bowl 17-13. They are led by junior quarterback Dustin Crum who threw 18 touchdown passes this season, good for third all-time in school history. Crum led the MAC in passing yards, touchdowns and completion percentage.
