LOGAN — As Utahns prepare to ring in 2026, the Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) and local law enforcement agencies are launching a high-visibility, statewide DUI blitz to remove impaired drivers from the road.
The enforcement effort, announced Tuesday, aims to deter and detect impaired drivers before preventable crashes occur. So far in 2025, Utah law enforcement has recorded an average of 30 DUI arrests per day. Authorities emphasized that alcohol-related crashes in the state are 15 times more likely to result in a fatality than other types of collisions.
UHP is partnering with the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services (DABS) and WCF Insurance to promote the message that impairment begins with the first drink.
“Our state troopers will be out, and unfortunately, will be arresting people for DUIs,” said UHP Major Chamberlin Neff. “State troopers will have zero tolerance for impaired driving”.
To encourage safe travel, WCF Insurance is providing $10 Lyft rideshare credits for the third consecutive year. The credits are available via QR codes located at local bars, DABS liquor stores, or online at drivesober.utah.gov.
