VIRGINA, Idaho — Another wrong way crash sent two people to the hospital Tuesday night in southeast Idaho. The three vehicle incident was reported at approximately 11:56 p.m. along Interstate-15 in Bannock County.

According to the Idaho State Police, a 45-year-old man from San Luis Obisbo, California, was travelling south in the northbound lanes of I-15, west of Virgina. The 2019 Volkswagon struck a small Toyota SUV that was being driven by a 21-year-old man from Rexburg. The car then struck a Ford pickup, driven by a 34-year-old man from Idaho Falls.

Police report the driver of the Volkswagen was transported by air ambulance to a local hospital. The driver of the Toyota SUV was also transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital.

The road was blocked for approximately 2.5 hours while emergency crews treated the injured and cleared the crash.

This incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police and marks the second wrong way crash in Bannock County in the past four days. Saturday morning, a 69-year-old Blackfoot, Idaho man died after being hit by a wrong way driver near Fort Hall.
