Stand-up artists Debra DiGiovanni and Kevin Bozeman will headline the Comedy Night on Feb. 14 at the Ellen Eccles Theatre in downtown Logan.
LOGAN – The Cache Valley Center for the Arts’ series of comedy nights will continue with a one-night only performance by stand-up artists Debra DiGiovanni and Kevin Bozeman on Wednesday, Feb. 14.
It’s no coincidence that their appearance is happening on St. Valentine’s Day, according to CacheARTS executive director Wendi Hassan, who says that she planned the comedy night as an alternate to more traditional dates on that romantic occasion.
The comedy nights are a new addition to the CacheARTS’ national touring season that began in 2022-2023, Hassan explains, bringing award-winning comedians from across the nation to the Ellen Eccles Theatre.
Hailing from up north, Debra DiGiovanni has been named as Canada’s favorite comic, in addition to dominating the spotlight in comedy clubs in her hometown of Toronto.
Critics have praised DiGiovanni’s self-depreciating humor, citing her on-stage persona as one of the best developed by any stand-up artist working today.
She is also known on the comedy circuit for her unflinching honesty and rapid-fire delivery of jokes.
DiGiovanni is a favorite at the Montreal “Just for Laughs” Comedy Festival, attending 10 times. She’s done comedy festivals around the world- including the “Glasgow Comedy Fest” in Scotland, as well as the “Just For Laughs” festival in Sydney Australia, the popular “Bridgetown Fest” in Portland, OR. and “The Moontower Fest” in Austin, TX.
Her comedy special “Single, Awkward Female” has played on Showtime and Netflix.
In 1999, Kevin Bozeman found himself out-of-a-job, with a desire to only work an hour a day. Stand-up seemed to be the solution to his problems, so Bozeman decided to try his luck at an open-mic event in nearby Madison, WI.
A quarter of a century later, Bozeman is still going strong as a comic, entertaining crowds at clubs and colleges with his smooth style, winning smile and contagious laugh.
In 2000, he was the winner of the Midwest region of the HBO “Comedy Competition” and flew to Los Angeles to compete as a finalist.
Bozeman performed on Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend” in 2003, and finished 2nd in the Boston Comedy Competition in 2005.
He was a semi-finalist on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” in 2010.
The Chicago comic sums up his career as being pretty successful, for someone who only works an hour-a-night.
The CacheARTS Comedy Nights for 2023-2024 will conclude with the stand-up antics of comics Cathy Ladman and Ross Bennett on Saturday, May 4.
