MILLVILLE — The Utah Pork Producers Association (UPPA), a non-profit state association representing pork farmers in the state, selected Ridgeline High School Junior Becky Wangsgard as a Youth Ambassador.

Ridgeline High School junior Becky Wangsgard was chosen as one of the UPPA Youth Ambassadors.

Wangsgard is currently the Ridgeline Future Farmers of America president, a former captain of the soccer team and recently retired from the FFA sentinel office. Wangsgard works on her family’s farm outside of school.

“Becky has been a leader in agriculture as an FFA president and through the show pig circuit,” UPPA Executive Director Allison Fiscus said in a release. “We are excited to work with Becky and support her as she continues to grow in the field of agriculture.”

The Utah Youth Pork Ambassador was designed to provide young farmers with the opportunity to become involved in the pork industry by introducing participants to farmers across the state to build relationships and teaching students how to effectively communicate and share how pork is raised.

With her involvement in the show pig circuit, Wangsgard said she is interested in pursuing a career in the pork industry.

“I am honored and excited to have been chosen as one of this year’s ambassadors,” Wangsgard said. “I am eager to learn more about the industry and opportunities to get involved from pork farmers across the state.”

Wangsgard will participate in the program for the year and upon completion of the program, will receive funds for her college education.
