LOGAN — A 24-year-old Richmond man has been arrested for allegedly sharing child pornography on a social media app. Bridger James Evans was booked temporarily Tuesday into the Cache County Jail after law enforcement served a warrant to his home.
According to an arrest affidavit, the Logan City Police Department received a cyber-tip in February, alleging Evans was sharing child pornography on an app where users chat with others in private and group rooms. Officers were provided files and found seven pornographic videos which depicted young adolescent females, ranging from 6 to 12-years-old.
The app reported the videos were allegedly uploaded by Evans and sent to other users in January.
Police traced the IP address of the suspected account to Evans’ home in Richmond.
Officers obtained a search warrant and questioned Evans on Tuesday. He reportedly admitted to downloading and sharing “7 or 8 videos of naked children involved in various sexual activities,” the probable cause statement explained.
According to jail records, Evans was booked on seven counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, a first-degree felony; and seven counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.
Evans was released from jail after posting a $10,000 bond. He will likely be arraigned on formal charges in 1st District Court, following completion of officers’ investigation.
Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
