June 25, 1938 — April 2, 2023 (age 84)

Richard (Dick) Nelson, 84, passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on Sunday, April 2, 2023. He was born on June 25, 1938 to LaVon and Raymond Nelson. He lived in Bear River City and worked on the farm with his dad and brothers and sisters. He wrestled in high school and graduated from Box Elder High School.

He served for seven years in the Utah National Guard. He worked for 36 and a half years for the Internal Revenue Service in Ogden, Utah, where he received several awards. He retired in 1994.

Richard served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including bishop and ordinance worker for three years in the Ogden Temple and two years as assistant volunteer recorder in the Brigham City Temple.

In 1962, Richard married his eternal companion, Joylene Archibald, in the Logan LDS Temple. They just celebrated 60 wonderful years of marriage.

Richard spent many years snowmobiling with his family and special friends and several years racing horses. He spent many years serving and helping his friends and neighbors. He enjoyed spending time with family at their condo in Bear Lake each summer as well as camping and traveling together, especially to Yellowstone. His greatest joy was being with his family.

Richard is survived by his wife, Joy; sons, Rick (Kim), and their loved ones, Andria (Luis) and their sons, Thiago and Mateo; Ray (Lexi) and one on the way; Randy (Chris) and their loved ones, Alexa, Dawson, and Dylan; Ryan (Sondra) and their loved ones, Marisa (Taylor), Vanessa, and Derek; sister, DeeAnn (Don); brothers, Gary, Paul (Lezlie) and Dennis (Judy).

He is preceded in death by his sister, Pam (Dave) and his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023 at 11 A.M.

Viewings will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2023 from 6-8 P.M. and prior to the service from 9-10:30 A.M.

All services will be held at the Bear River City LDS Church (5870 N 4700 W- Bear River City).

Interment in the Bear River City Cemetery.
