August 29, 1931 – June 23, 2022 (age 90)

Richard “Dick” Kent Tuttle, 90, of Hyrum Utah, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2022, of natural causes. He has returned to his Heavenly Father. Dick was born on August 29, 1931, in Elsinore, Utah. He was raised by his grandparents Eric and Carrie Nielson on their farm. He told stories of getting his first horse in 3rd grade and no longer having to walk to school.

On November 22, 1948, Dick married Lavon Bonnie Flynn in Salt Lake City Utah, going on to have four children, Kent, Kraig, Kip and Kirk Tuttle. Dick served in the US Army on two separate occasions, in the 101st Airborne Division and as a Military Policeman. In 1964 the Tuttle’s moved to southern California where one of his jobs was spearfishing and harvesting abalone from the sea floor near Catalina Island. This is where he entered the trucking industry.

The Tuttle’s moved to Grand Junction, Colorado in 1976. Dick worked in Transportation Management for Boise Cascade and later owned his own trucking company. They enjoyed their small ranch with their horses, chickens, and other animals. He always made time for his family and church. In 1987 Dick and Bonnie moved to the Cache Valley and Hyrum, Utah where he was the manager of E.A Miller Trucking Company. After retirement he continued to work part time as a realtor and for the Cache Valley Transit District. He always enjoyed his family time and community. Dick was known for his deep strong voice and infectious laugh. He was a fantastic storyteller, and always lit up the room.

Dick was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie Tuttle and sons Kent Tuttle and Kip Tuttle.

Dick is survived by his sons Kraig Tuttle and Kirk Tuttle, his 12 grandchildren, his great grandchildren, and his great great grandchildren trailing behind.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 28th at 12:00 pm in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel at 245 Apple Drive in Hyrum.

There will be a viewing held from 10:30 – 11:30 am.

Military honors will be in the Hyrum City Cemetery following services.
