LOGAN — Road projects are, as usual, amping up this summer, according to Cache County Executive David Zook.
On KVNU’s For the People’s County Hour last week, Zook said the county’s Council of Governments (C.O.G.), which is composed of all the mayors, the 19 mayors, along with Zook are distributing a record amount of transportation dollars primarily to the towns and cities for road projects.
“So we just met recently and we authorized seven million dollars to be made available, which is the most ever. So, to all the cities out there, sharpen your pencils and get ready to turn in your grant applications, because we’ll have a process throughout this year where all of the cities can decide what their biggest transportation priorities are,” Zook explained.
The next step is they can formally apply for those funds.
“And then, all of us mayor on the C.O.G.(Council of Governments), we will score those applications, we’ll rank them, and then we’ll award the money sometime by the end of this year. Then next summer, those projects will be under construction.”
He said, when it comes to solid waste service, they’ve been talking to the cities about forming an inter-local agency where all the cities outside Logan and the county would join together to create an agency that would contract out or even provide solid waste pick-up themselves.
